Clash Royale: 5 Most Underrated Cards (2025)

New meta?

There are tons of cards in Clash Royale that get played constantly, appearing in almost every season over and over without fail. But there are also plenty of cards that rarely make it into a meta deck. But while these cards are often written off and forgotten about, most of them are absolutely worth trying again. In this article I’ll rank the top 5 most underrated cards in Clash Royale, starting with #5!

#5 – Three Musketeers

Three Musketeers are often overlooked because of their ultra-high elixir cost of 9. That’s the highest elixir cost in the entire game, so it’s hard to blame someone for not wanting to play them. But if you can figure out how to get past the elixir issues, Three Musketeers are extremely deadly. You have to watch out for spells like Lightning and Rocket which can take out multiple at once, but you can typically at least keep one alive. Three Musketeers are difficult to play right, but in the right decks (often accompanied by Elixir Collector), they can be a lot better than you might ever imagine.

#4 – Rascals

Rascals are a three-in-one combo. You get a tankier, larger Rascal up front with two ranged ones behind him. This group is able to defend well in a ton of situations since you get a tank and ranged damage in one. I think Rascals would be better if the ranged Rascals weren’t so easily killed, but I guess then they’d be far too good. As they are, Rascals fit into a lot of decks as a mid-cost tank that defends itself, similar to Goblin Giant or Electro Giant but much cheaper (and obviously not on that level). They’re reliable and help in more situations than most troops, and they deserve far more attention.

#3 – Mirror

Mirror is a really difficult card to rank, but I think it deserves more attention than it gets. It allows you to recast the card you cast immediately before it for the same elixir cost, but it gains +1 level. In ladder, ranked, or other normal matches that use your actual card ranks, this allows you to get above the cap of 15 or at least higher than you already have if not maxed. This is strong already, but Mirror really excels in game modes where all cards are limited to level 11. Then, the +1 bonus is guaranteed to give you the advantage. In this situation, I think Mirror is one of the best cards in the entire game. And even in ladder and other standard modes, I still think it’s one of the most underrated cards in Clash Royale.

#2 – Hunter

Despite having an evolution, Hunter is still a pretty underused card. He targets both flying and ground troops, and does more damage the closer his target is to him. This allows him to shred tanks with super high DPS while he’s close to them, or clear swarms if placed further back. Then we have the evolution, which allows him to “trap” enemies in one place when he shoots them. This makes him better against win cons like Balloon and Hog Rider, and doesn’t take away from his already-strong damage. I think Hunter deserves to be on the same level as other support troops with evolutions, even if he isn’t as good as Firecracker or Baby Dragon. I’d say he’s at least as good as Musketeer, if not a bit better in some situations.

#1 – Goblinstein

In my opinion, Goblinstein is the most underrated card in Clash Royale. For 5 elixir, you get three strong traits. You get a tank, a ranged attacker that “resets” enemy attacks, and some chain lightning. That’s a lot of value. As a tank, Goblinstein is pretty generic. He doesn’t fight back and can’t defend himself, so he doesn’t offer a ton. But his doctor ally can do those things. The doctor’s attacks zap enemies, which resets their attacks. This is great by itself, but then you can also use the chain lightning champion ability to clear out any enemies near Goblinstein. As a pair, they’re a perfect combo that’s really hard to deal with. You have to use specific cards to counter them, and even those aren’t a guarantee to deal with them both. If there’s any card in the game that is criminally underrated and underused, it’s Goblinstein.
